Old bus photos from around the world!
1948 Beck Bus
Hi Bernie
I finally got around to snapping a few pics of the old Beck.
Next time I'm there I'll get a shot of the plaque that has the serial number, and maybe the instrument panel.
I bought the old girl at an auction sale around 1990. The old fellow that was moving to florida had camperized it years
before with very nice varnished mahogany panelling. the panelling had to be ripped out unfortunately as the roof vents
had been allowed to leak. I made up a rigid tow bar and steered it home behind my friend's tractor. FUN!
It took very little to get the engine to run, just tune up stuff and some work on the starter. Much to my surprise the
air brakes came right up to pressure and unloaded properly. curious to see just what was still working I began checking
lights, amazingly all worked! Even the brake lights! The air motor for the windshield wiper even works, though there is
no woper arm. If memory serves it likely has an international frame and black diamond engine.
At this point the coach is at my ex's place and not getting the proper care. Paint is peeling and the body work is
rusted out in a small area around the lower right front.
the engine will still run but on an auxiliary gas tank mind.
A few months ago I drove it from the back yard (under it's own steam) to the front yard via the parking lot at the
legion... couldn't resist a slight joyride, the old girl sounded great and seemed so happy to be running. The engine
sounds very tight and I noticed no blue smoke.
The ex wants the coach gone so anyone who thinks they can give her a good home(the coach that is)...
All the best. Pete Mack

We are looking for a bus for an event we are having in December. We are looking for one that is in working condition though. Where is this bus located and what is the asking price?

Looks to me to be a Beck Super Steeliner, built in about '48 or '49. It would have been equipped with an International K-7 engine and five speed overdrive transmission. I believe the K-7 engine was a "Blue Diamond."

As a child I was enthralled with buses and it last to this day. Always wanted a Flxible starliner -- I believe it is a VL-100. Anybody have a picture of a Mexican "Santana" Scenicruiser looking bus that had TWO steering front axles? Oddest bus I ever saw. Lived a couple of blocks from Continental's Main Garage in Dallas and got a good dose of old Brills, etc.!

I have,., what was presented to me an old "bluebird" Wonderlodge. As i was researching what i had bought,i came upon your sight by looking up the only name i could find on my bus (Beck) when i saw the 48 you have(or had)and I was shocked. After all the searching(on&off) for 2yrs looking for bluebirds and realizing what i have. i am still stunned. I have only what info from your site.If you know of any others or someone who knows more about these old timers please give them my web info. I would greatly appreaciate it,as i have fallen in love with mine. It's a 49 deisel(Cummins turbo)35'pusher, was rebuilt in&out sometime in the 70'as per the vomit multi-color wall to wall-roof to ceiling carpet. Which is gone now.The coach is in incredable cond. runs and drives.I'm really glad to run across your site.Thank you, much..CH
