Rochester Transit General Motors TDH-4509 and TDH-3712 Buses
Dear Mr. Lopez,
I am sorry that it took so long for me to reply. My job as a bus operator for TTC in Toronto gives me odd hours and off dadys.
In any event, I now attach the bus pix of GM's and Macks and some bus builder's photos. By pure chance, I found a picture of a General Motors TDH4509 when it was new and it happened to be one of those I photographed when they were languishing at 1320 Main St., awaiting transport to Marciano's Wreckers in Bergen, N.Y. Sort of a 'both ends' situation.
Over the years, RTC (Rochester Transit) and its successors have had about nine different paint schemes. If you examine the two GM old look buses in picture 16, at first glance they look identical. Upon closer examination, however, you will note the strip above the standee windows - one has the roster number, the other the 'Rochester Transit' name.
The old picture of #416 from the Rochester Municipal Archives shows the bus 'as delivered' in white over red.
Finally, contrary to the beautifully restored Rochester Transit bus on another page of your ClassicBusDepot.com website, picture 20 shows that, at least in 1964, the 5106's had red, rather than white wheel rims.
'Hope you enjoy them.
Regards,
Gerry Byrne
