Leyland RV Conversion Bus in Australia

Hi,

We have just purchased this beautiful old bus in Brisbane Qld Australia as a motorhome and we would like to know more about it as we don't even know it's make or age maybe someone could help?

All we have to go on is an old rego as a Leyland bus and that it was used by the army. It could be 1968 or around this time.

Thanking you,
Robert and Mandy

the front panels and grill look very much like a Leyland FG, circa 1970s, it looks a bit like the diesel version where the front protruded further to give more room to the bigger engine

You say your bus is 1968 year vehicle; , it is most probably something along the lines of a Leyland Panther or something close to it , a re bodied front end using a Panther rear windscreen as a forward one hahaha, i think at some point in the buses life when it got converted into a motor home someone made some customization to it.

This is unlike any other Leyland i have ever seen and ive seen some strange ones, but it's my best guess that it comes under the Panther/tiger type of chassis bus i could not tell you anymore if i knew i would.

But good luck with your new bus and happy driving!

hi, can confirm lower front panel & headlamps is Austin/Morris/Leyland FG, made from early 60s to early 80s, the grill panel has been modified to increase airflow, its not the extended panel from the larger FGs but is the facelift panel from 67ish on, front wheels look 550FG or similar.

Hi I also have a bus that looks like this one. It is registered as a 1949 Leyland 245 Fg. The front is similar and I have also found it near impossible to locate any info about it. It was made by BMC in Sydney. We purchased it recently in Brisbane where it has been for the last 30 odd years. I would like to post a photo but cant do it here so this is my email robinsonnet@dodo.com.au
