Bernie,
You have a great site for bus fans. My dad worked for Public Service of New Jersey throughout my childhood, and I have always loved busses. I've sent a scan of an original photo that was saved from destruction .

Here is another shot. This picture, along with the "Bus Wash" were from the Public Service garage in Hackensack New Jersey. It was demolished in the seventies to make a parking lot.
Keep up the good work!-Bob Tezel
Bernie replies: Thank you Bob. These are the kind of pictures I would like to feature more of here. Just everyday shots, nothing glamourous, the real thing. This picture says a thousand words and brings up a thousand questions. Was this bus being washed in the morning or after a days run? What year? Was it cold out? Was this someones favourite bus to drive or did the drivers hate this one? You must all think I'm crazy but it's fascinating. Does anyone else react this way when they see old bus photos like these? Please say I'm not alone.
YOUR COMMENTS
God's Blessings: I would like photos of the old look public service bus garaged at union city and greenville, jersey city. The bus number was anywhere between 8000 to 8999. I remember the headlights were very unusual in that they pertruded outward almost like the look of the old volkswagen bus van. Thank You. Anthony Cerbo.
