1954 General Motors GMC PD-4501 Greyhound Scenicruiser

Hello bus fans: I rode Greyhounds since I was born in 1950. Since my parents were unable to purchase a car until 1961. The greyhound was our primary source of visiting my grandparents in South Hill. Remember with great fondness the Silverside and the 4501(my fav). Wish I was wealthy to the point I could purchase one and take the best care of it, but I do have memories. I am wondering if anyone out there remembers (1957) May, when a new scenicruiser collied with any automobile on the Swift Creek bridge (3 died in the car) and went over the side into the Swift Creek. Over half the bus was submerged. A number of passengers were injuried but not seriously. I wonder if they were able to save the bus from being scrapped. Can anyone out there in bus land assist me? FATHER, S.K. BJERKE DROVE FOR GREYHOUND 1952 INTO THE LATE 1980S. HE DROVE MANY SCENICRUISERS THROUGH HIS TIME AT GREYHOUND. I RODE ON SEVERAL WITH HIM AS A KID AND LOVED THEM.
I DROVE CHARTER BUS IN THE BAY AREA FOR SEVERAL YEARS BUT NOT SATISFIED UNTIL PURCHASING 4501 660 ABOUT FIVE YEARS AGO. BASED IN CONCORD CA. IN IS BEING RESTORED TO ORIGINAL GREYHOUND COLORS/SEATS AND LIVING AREA INSIDE.
FIVE OR SIX MILLION MILES ON HER. SHE RUNS AND HANDLES FINE. A TRUE ICON.
