This bus has been a conversion project of my father's for the past 20 years. My husband and I have recently acquired it and are desperately trying to determine what model and year it is. We would love for someone to help us out so that we might return the exterior to its original paint scheme as well as collect some memorabilia. We are eager to begin our adventures in this family treasure!

Bernie,
My bus finally has a correct identity. I was able to locate the model number stamped on the chassis inside the wheel well. Turns out that it is a 1944 TG 3609. I am elated to finally solve this mystery. According to the Ohio Museum of Transportation our bus was purchased by the US Navy in March of 1945. Now I will be searching for pictures so that we can return the exterior to its original paint scheme as well as decorate the inside with some memorabilia from that era.
What would we all do without the inernet?
Thanks so much for your help,
Tina Younger

YOUR COMMENTS
Just caught your photo. There are pics of this bus on file in it's original state at the Vallejo Naval & Historical Museum, located in Vallejo, California. Jim Kern is a good contact who might be able to help you. Also, Ted Campbell of Coach Maintence (I believe That Is The Name Of His Company)Williams, California, has a former GM Old Look Naval bus of this type in his yard. He has a website however I forgot the address of it. do alittle research and if you get a hold of him, he can be of great help as well! He was a former Greyhound bus mechanic who knows his stuff! I believe the outside of this coach is a naval gray. Buses of this type used to run an employee shuttle between Mare Island Naval Base (Now Decommissioned) to various points in the SF Bay Area. It was ran under contract by Pacific Greyhound.
